Library Mission and History

The library provides information and resources in a variety of ways and formats to meet the wide-ranging and eclectic needs of the community. The library was first established under the leadership of the Daughters of the American Revolution in 1905 and rechartered as a school district pubic library by the voters of the Geneva City School District in 2006.

History in Brief

The library began life in 1905 as a free association library--the Geneva
Free Library--with the leadership and support of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Mission Statement

The Geneva Public Library provides reliable information to visitors and residents of all ages in a prompt manner and in all formats and media.

Our Library Through the Years

This history of the library was written by A. M. Learned on the occasion of the library's 75th anniversary in 1980 and published in 1981. The library was then the Geneva Free Library.
