The library promotes and actively publicizes its services, programs and collections in an effort to increase public awareness, and to increase the opportunities for the public to the benefit from these programs, services, and collections.

    The Summer Reading "Make a Splash" Program is over!

  • Sep 14 & 16: AARP Senior Driver Safety Classes

    The library hosts an 8-hour AARP Driver Safety Program in the Community Room on September 14 and 16 from 1-5 p.m. Anyone 50 and older can attend for a minimal fee and qualify for auto insurance discounts.

  • Sep 10: Patricia Schwartz Launches Musical Moments With Poetry

    Area poet and author Patricia Roth Schwartz reads from her work on September 10 and launches the library’s 2010-2011 Musical Moments program. Musical Moments is on the second Friday of the month, September through May, and features area musicians and poets. The program begins at 7:15 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

  • Teen Pizza Taste Off

    The Geneva Public Library is hosting their Teen Pizza Taste-Off on August 17, 2010 at 3pm. Area teens will judge pizzas that were donated from several local pizzerias.

  • Library Awarded $244,517 Public Computer Center Grant Creates 3 Jobs for 2 Years

    The Geneva Public Library has been awarded a New York State Education Department Public Computer Center grant of $244,517. The grant will fund a two-year program to improve and expand the computer resources the library makes available to the public and to provide computer-skills instruction to area residents. The program will create 3 jobs at the library for two years.

  • Library seeks quotes on worked approved by Library Board

    The Library is seeking quotes from contractors on work approved by the Geneva Public Library Board of Trustees for improvements on Castle Street from the corner of Main Street to the library’s entrance.

  • 'Discovering Roots' Genealogy Workshop July 30

    A free, one-day genealogy workshop for beginners and people wanting a personal introduction to local resources will be held on Friday, July 30, 2010. The Locke Family Association, the Geneva Historical Society, and the Geneva Public Library are hosting the daylong event at the Library.

  • Geneva Public Library Hosts Blood Drive July 26

    Geneva Public Library and the American Red Cross will join together for a blood drive on Monday, July 26. The blood drive will be held in the library's community room from 1:30 PM – 6:30 PM.

  • July 16 and 17 Friends of the Library 2010 Paperback Book Sale

    Summer is a time for reading, and the Friends of the Geneva Public Library has scheduled its 2010 Paperback Book Sale for Friday, July 16, from 9 am to 7 pm and Saturday, July 17, from 9 am to 5 pm.

  • Summer Programs for Children Begin and Include Incentives to Read

    Summer programs for children and their families begin July 13 at the library and continue through to the end of August. These include a series of weekly and special programs that are free and open to the public, as well as a series of incentives available all summer to encourage children to read. Caregivers and parents are encouraged to call and sign up for the programs, but drop-ins are welcome.

  • Library Board Approves Reduced Services, New Hours, and New Fees for Library's Meeting Rooms

    The Geneva Public Library Board of Trustees met on June 30 and adopted the library’s 2010-2011 budget, which includes less money for evening and Saturday hours and reductions in services for children, teens, and families with children. New fees were also approved, including fees for the use of the library’s meeting rooms.

  • Make a Spalsh! Summer Reading Encouraged for All Ages! Participate Online!

    The library is participating in the state-wide “Make A Splash” summer reading program and for the first time, readers will be able to participate from home or even while away on vacation! Beginning June 28th, readers of all ages can register and record what they read online. Look for the Summer Reading Program links on the library's website!

  • Make Waves at Geneva Public Library

    Teens are encouraged to register for our Summer Reading Program beginning June 28, 2010. You can register at the library or online.

  • Make a Splash Read!

    On Monday, June 28th, registration will began for our summer reading programs for children. Children going into grades K-5 can register and record the books and number of minutes they read online as well as by using reading logs that they pick up at the library.

  • Jun 11: Eliot, Eliza and Meg Heaton Perform an All-Classical Recital

    The Library's Musical Moments of Friday, June 11th, is an all-classical program, featuring Eliot Reinhardt Heaton on violin, Eliza Heaton on cello, and Meg Cognetta Heaton on piano. The program begins at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

  • Teen Game Night

    On May 26th at 5:30pm we are inviting Teens to bring some of your friends and join us for an evening of videogames and snacks.

  • Friends of Library Asking for Donations of Paperbacks for Library Book Sale

    Used paperbacks in good condition may now be dropped off at the library in preparation for the Friends of the Library Book Sale in July.

  • Library to Close 3 Days for Strategic Planning

    The library plans to close for three days of facilitated planning to identify and prioritize library services. The library will be closed Thursday, May 13, Saturday May 22, and Saturday June 5.

  • Friends of the Library Planning "New England Authors" Trip

    The Friends are planning a trip to experience New England authors this autumn from October 15-17. The tour includes 2 nights hotel accommodations, 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 2 dinners, tour guide, admissions and customary gratuities.
