Reading Between the Lines on Sunday: Ceremony by Leslie Maromon Silko
Read and discuss Ceremony by Leslie Maromon Silko. The novel explores the American Native spiritual vision and reverence for nature through the story of a young Indian war veteran's trauma and healing.
This is the second of four monthly book discussions in a joint Geneva Public Library and Hobart & William Smith Colleges’ Fisher Center program entitled “Re-Thinking Religion: Recent Women’s Novels and American Identity.†Participants will explore four novels by women that involve the quest for meaningful religious experience in contemporary American society. The program is part of the New York Humanities Council "Reading Between the Lines" adult book discussion series.
The 90-minute discussions are led by Richard Salter, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Hobart & William Smith.
