Communication Strategies

One of our goals this year at the Central Library has been to ease and improve communication about Central Library services and programs with member libraries: trying to cover everything in a few minutes at the System Meeting just doesn't cut it.

Sometimes (okay, often) you are so busy at your home library that you cannot attend the monthly meetings; sometimes in the rush of daily activities, we fail to get information out to you consistently.

To assist us in establishing and maintaining effective communication, the Central Library commits to the following:

1. Using this blog, Central Dispatch, to communicate important or useful information.
2. Submitting information weekly to be published in PLS Notes, which is distributed by email to all member library staff.
3. Update the New@Central Bookletters (http://library.booksite.com/5257/nl/?list=CNL8) monthly to keep member libraries informed of recent purchases.
4. Continue to make the Central Library Services website (www.genevapubliclibrary.net/central) a clearing house of useful information and tools for member libraries.
5. Check the genevaref@pls-net.org email twice a day and immediately acknowledge receipt of all messages along with an estimate of the amount of time it will take us to respond to the request.
6. Check the CBA Purchase Requests bi-weekly (http://plum.pls-net.org/twiki/bin/view/Members/CentralLibraryCBAPurchaseRequest) and update the records accordingly, so that you are continually informed of the status of your request.
7. Make the minutes of quarterly Central Library Advisory Committee, aka CLAC, meetings available in a timely fashion on PLUM (http://plum.pls-net.org/) so that all member library staff can see what is being discussed, considered and decided in regards to the Central Library.

Please let us know other ways that we can improve communication with you!
