These resources provides some of the basic professional and popular resources on medicine and health, some of which require a library card to access.

  • Child Health Plus

    New York State's health insurance plan for children up to age 19 is available to families that need the coverage and can meet the program's eligibility requirements. Free insurance is available depending on a family's income.

    "Trustworthy, up-to-date health information for the Rochester region provided by local medical, public, and school librarians." Provides contacts to medical librarians in the Rochester region.

  • Drug Information Portal

    This is a gateway to selected drug information from the National Library of Medicine and other U.S. Government agencies. More than 18,000 drugs may be searched, many from the time they are entered into clinical trials (Clinicaltrials.gov) through their entry in the U.S. market place. Many drugs in other countries are covered, but not as thoroughly as U.S. drugs.

    MedlinePlus pulls together "authoritative information from National Library of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health and other government agencies and health-related organizations. MedlinePlus also has extensive information about drugs, an illustrated medical encyclopedia, interactive patient tutorials, and latest health news."

    NeedyMeds is a non-profit organization with the mission to help "people who cannot afford medicine or healthcare costs." Information provided at the site is available anonymously and free of charge and assists people get the medications they need.

  • Partnership for Prescription Assistance

    The Partnership for Prescription Assistance helps qualifying patients without prescription drug coverage get the medicines they need for free or nearly free. It's mission is to increase awareness of patient assistance programs and boost enrollment of those who are eligible.
