APRIL 18: Books Sandwiched Features Phil Beckley

Geneva Public Library’s “Books Sandwiched In” program continues on Friday, April 18, with Phil Beckley’s review of the John Grisham novel "Playing for Pizza". “Books Sandwiched In” features reviews of books by community members the 1st Friday of the month, through June. The hour-long program begins at noon at the library and is free and open to the public.

This novel about American football in Italy has been called “Delightfully comic…a deeply satisfying story.” (The Boston Globe) and Publisher’s Weekly describes "Playing for Pizza" as “invigorated by appealing characters and lively play-by-play. The result is a charming fish-out-of-water story.”

Phil Beckley retired as the publisher of the Finger Lakes Times in 2005, and continues to be active in many community organizations, including but by no means limited to, the Geneva Arts Development Council (President, Board of Directors), Geneva Historical Society (Secretary), Geneva Country Club (President, Board of Directors), Geneva Rotary Club and Literacy Volunteers of Ontario County. Mr. Beckley is a lifelong avid reader.

Those attending are encouraged to bring a lunch. Coffee and dessert will be provided.
