Reading Between the Lines: Paradise by Toni Morrison
Read and discuss Toni Morrison's novel Paradise, which treats the role of the church in the African American community since the time of slavery.
This is the third of four monthly book discussions in a joint Geneva Public Library and Hobart & William Smith Colleges’ Fisher Center program entitled “Re-Thinking Religion: Recent Women’s Novels and American Identity.” Participants will explore four novels by women that involve the quest for meaningful religious experience in contemporary American society. The program is part of the New York Humanities Council "Reading Between the Lines" adult book discussion series.
The 90-minute discussions are led by Richard Salter, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Hobart & William Smith.
