May 17: Caregiver Health Fair
A Caregiver Health Fair for seniors is planned for Saturday, May 17, at Geneva Public Library. Help will be available to low income seniors interested in filing for the Federal Tax Stimulus Program or interested in learning more about services for seniors. The program is sponsored by a grant from the Ontario County Office for the Aging and begins at 10 AM and runs until 1 PM in the library's community room.
Health professionals will be on hand from fourteen separate health agencies with information on dozens of topics, including living wills, Hospice Care, the challenges of raising grandchildren, exercising both mind and body, Adult Day Care, adapting spaces, adaptable clothing, as well as filing for the Federal Stimulus Program. Agencies will be providing giveaways; door prizes are planned; and there will be demonstrations and assistance in filling out other health forms.
The Ontario County Office for the Aging provides programs to low income seniors and information on a wide variety of legal, health, and other topics of interest to seniors. The Office for the Aging manages Federal and other public health programs, including elder abuse, in-home services, home delivered meals, medication checks and management, and emergency response systems.
The Geneva Public Library offers a wide variety of materials of interest to seniors and rotates collections of books and other material in local senior living centers. Anyone interested in learning more about the Caregiver Health Fair or other library services and programs to seniors can speak to the coordinator of the library's outreach program to seniors, Glenda Jackson, at 315-789-5303.
The library is located in Geneva at 244 Main Street.
