One-on-One Classes Offered at Library

The library offers one-on-one tutoring on computers, using the Internet, e-Mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and other topics. Those interested in one-on-one tutoring may choose from the following options:

Open Hours Sessions: Open one-on-one tutorial sessions are held every Friday from 10-12. Starting in October, we will also be holding open hours on Wednesdays from 10-12. These sessions are completely free and are held on a first come, first serve basis (no scheduling allowed). Topics for these sessions include but are not limited to the Internet, Microsoft Word, and web-based e-mail. The instructors will try to accommodate any computer related topic that is within their knowledge or capabilities. One-On-One Job Help Hour: Need help creating or updating your resume, drafting a cover letter, or completing an online job application? In these free hour long one-on-one sessions on Tuesdays from 11-12 and 2-3, you work with an experienced instructor to finish these tasks and start applying for jobs. In October, the 11-12 session on Tuesday will be moving from 10-11 on Mondays.

Video Tutorials: Starting in January, the library will create videos tutorials of the lesson plans used for our group computer classes. We will then make these video tutorials available to our patrons on the library's YouTube page. Patrons with scheduled lessons or those attending open hours may opt to view these video tutorials for free in lieu of a one-on-one session with a library staff member.

Scheduled Sessions With G.I.G. Staff: For those patrons that cannot attend our scheduled Open and Job Help Hours, the G.I.G. staff may be able to schedule additional hours for one-on-one training sessions that fit with our schedule and expertise. Scheduled Sessions With Non G.I.G. Staff: Scheduled one-on-one tutorial sessions are available to adults, Monday through Thursday. Scheduled lessons are charged a $10 fee that is payable at the start of the lesson. Topics for these sessions include the Internet, Microsoft Word, and web-based e-mail.
