Borrowing, Returning Library Items and Late Fees

Any borrower, regardless of age, may borrow any circulating item in the library's collection.

A valid OWWL library card must be presented at the time of the loan.

Borrowing privileges will be suspended on any OWWL library card with $5.00 or more in late fees.

LOAN PERIODS

Loan periods are determined by the library director according to demand of the material, appropriateness of use, or value. Presently, the Geneva Public Library loan periods are:

* New Books - 2 Weeks
* Books, including Large Print - 3 Weeks
* Audio Books - 3 Weeks
* Videos, DVD's - 1 Week
* Music CD's - 3 Weeks
* Magazines - 3 Weeks

LATE FEES

A late fee is charged the borrower on any item returned late.

A $1.00 per day late fee is charged VHS & DVD items returned late.

A 20¢ per day late fee is charged on all other items returned late, including books, audio books, CDs, and magazines.

The maximum late fee on any item is $5.00.

RECEIPTS

A paper receipt will be given to the borrower that will show the date when each item should be returned to the library.

BORROWING FROM OTHER LIBRARIES

Borrowers may also borrow items from the 41 public libraries in Ontario, Wayne, Wyoming, and Livingston County that are members of the Pioneer Library System.

Items borrowed from these libraries are subject to the lending library's loan policy and late fees.

There is a $5.00 fee per item to borrow from a library NOT a member of the Pioneer Library System.

PLACING HOLDS AND RESERVING ITEMS

Borrowers may place a hold on and reserve an item not immediately available at the library or on an item from another member library of the Pioneer Library System. Holds may be placed in person, by telephone, or using OWWL online.

Borrowers will need their library card if placing the hold in person, their card number if placing the hold by telephone, or their card number and PIN if placing the hold online.

Items are held for no more than one week after the borrower is notified of the item's availability.

RENEWING ITEMS

Borrowers may renew items twice, in person, over the telephone, or using OWWL online.

An item may not be renewed if a hold has been placed on the item.

Borrowers will need their OWWL library card if renewing in person, their card number if renewing by telephone, or their card number and PIN if renewing on OWWL online.
