Getting a Library Card

You may register for a free OWWL library card at the Geneva Public Library if you are a resident or own property in the Geneva City School District.

By registering for a card you agree to observe library policies and rules and to return all items borrowed when they are due.

You may register for a free OWWL card if you are a current student at Hobart and William Smith Colleges or Finger Lakes Community College and living in the Geneva City School District.

You may also register for a free OWWL card if you are a resident or own property in Ontario, Wayne, Wyoming, Livingston County of New York, a regional privilege made possible by the Pioneer Library System. You may use an OWWL card to borrow from any of the 42 public libraries in Ontario, Wayne, Wyoming, and Livingston County.

If you do not meet these residency requirements, a card is available for an annual fee of $20, which is the present approximate per capita support received by the Geneva Public Library from the taxpayers of the Geneva City School District.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

You must have one form of ID from each group:

Photo ID

  1. Driver’s license
  2. High School or college photo ID card
  3. Photo ID from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
  4. Social Services photo ID
  5. Passport

Proof of Address

  1. Current driver’s license with the address on the front (Written address on DMV sticker on the back of the license is also acceptable)
  2. Photo ID from the DMV with the correct address written on the front
  3. Bills sent to the residence can be used if they are utility bills, tax bills, or insurance bills (Magazine subscriptions, catalog orders, personal correspondence cannot be used)
  4. Car, boat, truck, motorcycle registration forms can be used if it is computer generated (Hand written registration forms will not be accepted)
  5. Hunting license, if it is computer generated
  6. Prescription bottles with the correct address
  7. Paycheck stub issued in last six weeks with address

Children are encouraged to get their own cards. Pre-school and school-age children up to and including fifth grade must register at the Children's Desk for their cards and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with the above required ID.
