The Library's proposed 2012-2013 Budget includes an increase of 2% in local tax appropriation.

 The Library will present its proposed 2012-2013 Budget, which includes an increase of 2% in local tax appropriation. The additional $8,961.00 in tax revenue will help the Library offset rising retirement and health care costs as well as significant reductions in state aid in order to maintain the high quality collections, services and programs that the Geneva community currently enjoys.   

The Annual Geneva Basket Raffle has over 40 unique baskets on display in the library for adults, teens and children. Raffle tickets can be purchased now and up to the day of Saturday, April 21 when baskets will be raffled off in the Library Community Room intermittently between 10am and 12pm.

Step Up for Autism on Friday, April 1, 2011 during the Autism Awareness Walk! From 2:45 until 4:15 p.m. at the Geneva Community Center, students, parents, teachers and community members will raise awareness for autism by walking a loop from the Community Center to North Street School and back. There will also be a special performance by the Step-Up step team!

As part of the 2011 Community Read of Mark Haddon's The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, Geneva Reads will sponsor an Autism Film Series at the Smith Opera House in March. On Thursday, March 31st the Smith will screen Normal People Scare Me (2006), directed by Keri Bowers and Taylor Cross. Based on the 10 minute award winning short film of the same title, Normal People Scare Me is a feature-length documentary sharing first-person accounts of life and living with autism.

The Geneva Public Library will sponsor a three-part workshop, Telling the Stories of Our Lives, led by Waterloo writer, Patricia Roth Schwartz. The program will be held on three Tuesdays, March 29, April 5, and April 12, from 7-9 pm. Participants will learn what memoir is, then through fun but inspiring exercises, begin to write parts of their own or their family’s story. A bibliography on memoir will also be handed out.
